Alex Grein’s backdrop-like installation reacts to the architecture of the gallery space, playing in a dual sense with the representation of reality. In her photographs, she scrutinizes our conventions of perception and thought.
Alex Grein was born in Cologne in 1983. As a master student of Andreas Gursky at Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, she has already shown works at the Kunstverein Duisburg, the KIT- Kunst im Tunnel and the Philara Collection in Düsseldorf. In 2016, she received the MKK Scholarship for Photography as well as funding from the Kunststiftung NRW in 2018 in the section with the heading “The Young Scene”. She lives and works in Düsseldorf and Cologne.
