Martin Pfeifle and Jan van der Ploeg not only connect through intensive encounter with the exhibition space but commonly play with the vocabulary of concrete and constructive art and their luscious use of colour.
OVLOV also primarily exposes the space in which the exhibition is set, with consideration to the architectural form of the gallery house. While Martin Pfeifle creates a sculpture that extends across the entire upper floor, Jan van der Ploeg responds to the architecture with an installation of two wall paintings. The dialogue between the artists develops within the exhibition „Jan van der Ploeg: A wall painting installation“ and an intervention from Martin Pfeifle at gkg/Gesellschaft für Kunst und Gestaltung in Bonn. (Opening January 28, 2018, 11am)
Beyond that, at the staircase is a presentation of his project LAN that Martin Pfeifle developed in China, invited by Longli International Art Season, curated by Aimo Yang and Gregor Jansen, in Longli / Guizhou, China. Derived from drawings made on site, he realized a series of 31 ultramarine blue works made from acrylic glass. The first set has been installed permanently at 31 public and private spaces in China. The second set will be shown at the exhibition OVLOV. In addition photographic works by Martin Pfeifle are shown for the very first time. They were created as part of LAN project.
